Studies on the Alteration of Tuberculin Reaction

Abstract
Hemagglutination tests were carried out on 106 healthy and/or non-tuberculous subjects, ranging in age from 20 to 30 years, to study the relation between the chicken red cell hemagglutination tests and repeated tuberculin testing on the same sites of human body. For the sensitization of red cells with tuberculoprotein or PPD, the Boyden¢¥s method, characterized by the tannic acid technique, was used. The results were as follows
1. Groups A and D, each consisting of 23 and 32 subjects, received one tuberculin tests. Hemagglutination tests were carried out prior to the tuberculin tests and 7 to 10 days after the tuberculin tests in group D, and 7 to 10 days after the tuberculin tests in Group D, and 7 to 10 days after the tuberculin tests only in group A. Positive hemagglutination were seen in 12. 5% in Group D prior to the tuberculin tests. Positive rate after the tuberculin tests in group A and D were 48% and 51.7% respectively.
2. Group B consisting of 27 subjects received three tuberculin tests on the same site with 20 days, interval. Hemagglutination tests were carried out 7 to 10 days after the last tuberculin test. Group C, consisting of 19 subjects, received two tuberculin tests on the same site with 6 months interval, and hemagglutiation tests were car
